200 milliamps of electricity required to cause a convulsion during ECT. ECT is the gold standard for treating chronic depression. The same amperage has shown brain damage and hemorrhages in lab animals. It takes more amperage under anesthesia because it acts as an anticonvulsant. The truth is the new method is not safer! @eduecon If someone chooses not to be electrocuted, that should be there personal choice. Not a decison for a jumped up doctor who thinks hes god to make. I have depresson, I have it cause I think alot about the world I'm in & my life experiences. This does not mean a doctor has the right to paralize me so I can't move, then burn my brain with electric x

@Vikkie7 Drugs destroy the brain, they make u worse. They are like chemical labotomys, It should be banned, electrocuting the brain is a fucking joke x
-
This should be out lawed, unbelievable & barbaric. Its wrong x
Please stop killing your peoples minds x

A few dozen damn good orgasms would achieve better results ...... without any risk.

@NightAire yeah but sending massive doses of electricity through your brain is only going to harm you not help you; your brain is highly sensitive

I'm sorry, but this video is bullshit! Yes, it was done like this in the dark ages but not any more...it's just sensationalist crap...And yes, I am speaking from personal experience...ECT has saved my life and is currently helping to keep me well. My memory loss is minimal and causes me no problem. If you have to post a video on this then at least tell the truth!

@Whiterhin018 Have you ever rebooted your computer?
Do you know what sends information from one part of your brain to the other, or from your brain to another part of your body?
Did you realize that when someone is in cardiac arrest, those paddles send a shock that STOPS, not starts, the heart? The heart is out-of-rhythm, and they stop it in the hopes in will re-start... this time in sync.
I hope this helps clear up this "dumb" idea of ECT for you.

Every patient I've seen go through this treatment has come out better.
After nearly 80 years, ECT has improved vastly.
