@celticlofts,Yeah but it took until the late 80's and the early 90's to push them out.

@celticlofts,Yeah but they instead went to Korea and Vietnam to supposedly to stop Communism because they both weren't strong as the former USSR.

@98bigbutt: Neither side wanted to start WW3 over it. The allies felt they could accomplish the task without going to war and they did. It was a very dangerous time for everyone. I could turn the question on you.. Why, when West Berlin was right in the middle of East Germany, didn't the Russians take West Berlin? They didn't for the exact same reasons the American's didn't.

i just have too questions, the men on the airplanes sending troops what did they take back with them ( lol does that make sense?) and by when was 100,000 deliviers/trips made?

If it was a triumph, then why didn't the Allies forces push the Ruskies out of Berlin and Eastern Germany altogether?

Germany in post WW2 had it worse than post WW2 Japan.I say this because Germany after WW2 fell to the Soviets and thus created East Germany and the Berlin Wall untill 1989-1990 when it reunited.Meanwhile in Japan, the US occupied it for a few years and the Japanese went on their own and became a economic power.

well I can not answer if You delete Your postings. One is for sure, there are not more Nzi thinking individuals in Germany then in an other country in Europe. Definetly are our far right hearted people a few and dont play a role. The left wing only got a bit mor power cause of the death of the SPD. The far right people wont be political active anymore, they are just hooligans seeking the fight with our police or other groups, nothing political about that
I feel sad my countrymen sacrificed so much in WWII so people like you can post dumbass messages on the internet. You obviously have never been to Germany, know the people, or the history of the airlift with such an idiotic statement. Germany is our greatest ally next to the Brits.

word up. but what he says about the press is true- germany is diplomatically uncooperative and not too happy to be associated with the US right now. The germans are nice people- personally- but they do not approve of things like Iraq and are increasingly dependent on Russia, a rival of the US for things like energy supplies, so I can see why they take such a stance. But calling them Nazi scum, even after ww2 is just plain wrong.
