One night at Douglas Corner in Nashville I played a writer's night with John Prine. I used to hang with him some at Brown's Diner in Nashville. Brown's was considered the bar of the star because Don Everly hung there. One night I told Don he owed me a beer because I had not told the tourists that had just left who he was. He bought me a beer. I wanted to post this song on YouTube but there are no videos. So I put my own version on. I have way more memories now than dreams and that sucks. John Prine is the greatest lyricist that ever lived and I consider it an honor all the times we got drunk together in the same bar. I think I've really had an interesting life so far.

john prine is a great songwriter.
but i lose a little respect for any artist who won't let the song he considers "his best" to be posted on youtube.

Simply wonderful!! You just have to love John Prine and Don Everly - and all who love them and their music. "More memories than dreams" - is it possible that the memories are what's left of dreams that did come true?
