Dina Emerson, voice & wineglasses, performing live at the Royce Gallery in San Francisco, CA on August 22, 2008 as part of the MOUTH concert. Curated by Pamela Z, MOUTH was an all-vocalist concert featuring solos, duets & group works by experimental vocalists Dina Emerson, Randall Wong, Pamela Z, Aurora Josephson, Kattt Sammon, Amy X Neuberg, Julie Queen & Neil Peppe.
Conclusion: a bit contrived in parts but overall I like it. The emotion is clear. Five stars. I would like to hear more of this kind of thing.

On second thought, I get the feeling that I simply do not quite "get" it, due perhaps to a failing on my part rather than that of the piece. This piece seems to be challenging popular consensus, as did some of Robert Heinlein's stranger stories. And I think that to be a good thing, even if I am not entirely happy with the method.

This is very interesting; my opinion of this piece is conflicted. There are many beautiful elements in it, but others are awkward (reminiscent of John Cage) and the entirety does not quite work out. [Apologetic glance.] Lovely singing voice, and I would very much like to hear the wineglass piece beginning at 1:58 made into a solo composition (it sounds like something by Eric Brosius). Overall, I like this performance but really wish there were a little less vocal chaos and overt weirdness.

I''m very very impressed at the artist you are, and proud that I got to know you, for a little while, somewhere back in time. Amazing.
