  • My Dad worked as a rep for the United Auto Workers in Detroit. I grew up hearing his stories about the back-breaking work of car assembly-the men climbing in and out of the cars doing all the installations, while being timed and told to work faster. Any time a man got fired, Dad took it personally. As a child, I became afraid of the words "got fired". He fought for all his guys, black and white, and even the most hard core anti-union came to respect him. Dad loved Norma Rae. Thanks for post.

  • @YardleySlicker thank you for that story. you're welcome.

  • Thank you so very much! I can't find the soundrack as yet but I adore this song and the opening scene in the film with this song is so elegiac, beautiful, hauntingly simple it has never left me. Thanks very much.

  • @brownhairedgirl100 you're quite welcome.

  • Know this song...lived it too. Daughter of a workin' man...where there was no black or white...only working vs. management.

  • i love the movie norma rae it made me cry so much but the ending was akward

  • I'm sorry for what my generation did to music, I'll be always taken by the 70's and 80's.

  • @PiggusVomitus No kidding. Eveyrbody's big fat hero and he did nothing but help the rich.

  • @JamesLM2006 Your use of words is not cool.

  • By the way,Jennifer Warnes has been one of the most succesful singing voices in the history of the movies.Three songs from her music catalogue has received Academy Awards. It Goes Like It Goes from Norma Rae(1979),Up Where We Belong from An Oficcer And A Gentleman(1982) and I've Had The Time Of My Life from Dirty Dancing(1987).The last two also were #1 songs on Billboard Pop Charts. So that explains why Kermit The frog couldn't beat Jennifer Warnes.Kermit is a frog,Jenniffer is an awarded singer.

  • @JamesLM2006
