best way of learning some basic HTML and how it all works in real life is to study web pages around the Internet, inspecting them by using web-dev tools inside browsers like Firefox or just Webdeconstructor -it to reveal all HTML tags on it ..

you have to put it on the internet first

so after you save it on notepad as .html it is automatically a website even though it still says file:///C:/Users... as the URL?
