Only in a movie will you be able to cut a spear shaft in half with a sword. =D
Try it in real life, it's difficult.

If the spearsman is skilled, as should be, he can avoid that with correct technique and stance + a strike with a sword aimed to break the spear is dangerous, and leaves the swordsman open to attacks + the material and craftwork of original spears like that were surprisingly durable. So, it is possible, but not a major concern for spearsman in combat.

it depends on fighting skills. If you are good in spearfight you probably will not allow to slash your weapon^^
