Booker Ervin tenor solo starting at 3:37 goes for about a minute. the first sax solo is on an alto sax, so that's either John Handy or Shafi Hadi. the unique sound of the late Mr. Ervin, may he rest in peace, one of my favorite artists for years is easily identifiable. He's on the Antibes version also. He was overshadowed by the late John Coltrane, may he rest in peace, who understandably overshadowed any other tenor sax player from the 1960s or any other time, except for Lester Fucking Young.

thanks, i was just listing the saxophonists on the credits of the Mingus Ah Um album that i have on cassette tape, recorded May 5 and 12 at Columbia 30th Street Studio in New York City. actually, it doesn't distinguish between tenor and alto saxes, just 'Saxophone' and the three outstanding players to whom a reference was made. i guess i got that info somewhere else, or i could be imagining things because i thought John Handy played (plays?) alto most of the time. take care
