It´s not a carnivals song nor a military song, it is about love and unconditional loyality (for a girl, not a country or shit).

The Husar leaves everything he owns to get to his girl when he hears she is ill and to accompany her to her grave.

I love this version above all others! It truly gives the flavor of the song rather than that of either, a Karnival song or a pro military piece.

It is a song of true love regardless of circumstances...that a soldier should abandon post and martial duty to take care of his hearts true love...

Wow! A war-weary group of soldiers, starving for entertainment and pretty girls, are all of the sudden confronted with a simple enemy girl's voice of a song of a true lover who'd do anything to save his girl. There were tears in the hard-bitten soldiers' eyes, remembering their own loved ones, as they listened and finally joined in--to this simple, yet oh so powerful melody that touched war hardened hearts in it's simplicity and honesty. Well done movie and well done scene.
