英会話ーアクションLesson-Jan. 16: お久しぶりは英語で?
http://actioneers.cool.ne.jp/
Long time no see.
It's been a long time!
It's been ages!
It's been forever!
It's been donkey's ears!

これらは全て「お久しぶりです。」という意味ですが、最後のIt's been donkey's ears!は
ロバの耳は長いので"長い間"会っていませんというところからこの表現が使われる様になりました。
donkey's years / donkey ears
非常に長い間◆【語源】ロバの耳が長いところから
It took me donkey's year to learn to speak English. 英語を話せるようになるまでにずいぶん長くかかった。

  • Teacher bringing students to their home?! Wha???? I hope it's just English lessons with the webcam and nothing more. Something like that would only be possible in Japan.... j/k

Donkey Ears?! Haha who uses that these says? Only if you want to sound like a fool!

She seems to be thinking: "Why am I here?" Haha

Wow, is that a DVD collection?

  • That is not a home. It is a school.

  • LOL Seeing all those videos of Japanese people trying to learn English, but having a hard time while everyone here in the West seems to find English easy. I feel their pain as someone that was forced to learn it as a non-native speaker.

But I guess after seeing all those videos that English is probably more difficult for Japanese to learn than Japanese is for native speakers of English. If you look at it objectively of course.

  • haha even if I don't understand the donkey's years expression

  • Awesome, This is really useful.

    please , more

  • Donkey ears/ years is a phrase we use in the Carribean a lot.

  • Me either

  • Only took you 9 months to reply! Haha. Why does a school have gravure videos in the back? She kind of looks like my cousin.

  • It says at the bottom of the screen in Japanese that: "It's been donkey ears" is an expression used in London or something
