Why should I come with Nick? Because I understand the potential of technology to help us learn about people of different backgrounds. These are some of my friends who represent the diverse tribes of Africa--Ashanti (Ghana), Ogoni (Nigeria), and Nuer (Sudan)--here in Lincoln.

African culture is about celebrating friends and family. I admire the way Lincoln's African refugee community has survived hardships and migration with their dignity and spirit of kinship intact.

I use technology everyday as a reporter for the Daily Nebraskan, the University of Nebraska paper...but remember, technology isn't just for learning about culture. What really counts are the face to face contacts that technology helps to bring about.

We can't all go with Nick to meet the folks of Africa, but with my enthusiasm for the people of Africa, i'll be sure to share some memorable personal connections. This is an example of my brand of New Journalism.
