I came across this bee nest quite without knowing for sure they were still there. Where the pile of bits of stick and chewed vegatation is, there used to be hedgehog hibernating under a huge pile of sticks and leaves I created especially for the purpose. As the poor little creature died sometime during the bitter weather,I found the little skeleton cleaned off entirely. I removed the pile of debris and left it bare except for a broken flower pot. So that's where this lot's been hiding all this time. Right next to this bee home in the ground is anotheer red-tailed bumble bee nest, in my compost bin, which I can't use now. I will have to try and move the queen and nest during the hibernation period to a more mutually agreeable spot. If I can find one.
Sorry about the wobbling. I was holding the camera in a very diffcult position for the entire length of the video, after hurting my hand.
