New Castle, PA-- Sen. Barack Obama and running mate Sen. Joe Biden arrive in Western Pennsylvania on Friday to kick off their campaign following the Democratic National Convention with a stop in Irvin Park, Beaver County. Tickets to attend the event ran out in Beaver County sending supporters to New Castle's Obama campaign office on East Street. A dozen or so people lined up outside the office on Thursday morning waiting to get tickets to the Obama rally in Beaver County. Ellwood City resident Susan Butler says she went to Beaver County first-- and when they ran out she headed to New Castle.
"I went to Beaver to get tickets and they had just ran out," Butler said. "I'd liked to be able to take my daughters to see the rally. I would like them to be able to see it. I think it's a historic event. I'd like them to be part of it."
New Castle's campaign office also ran out fo the free tickets for the rally. It is scheduled to start at 7:30 Friday evening. Lawrence County Democratic Committee Chair Richard Christopher tells TR News he's excited many people from Lawrence County want to attend.
"We saw a huge crowd come out for President Clinton when he campaigned here earlier this year," Christopher said. "Lawrence County will have many supporters on hand at this rally to show our local support for Obama."
Obama and Biden make Beaver the first start in a three-state bus tour.
