First experiment on dipole bass. The most realistic bass can only be produced by dipoles - at the expense of driver excursion

  • @transdrole If you have enough money try the Fostex FW800N. Q=0,69 dia=31,5 inch ;-)

  • @TopGearForever

Yea, SPL would rise, but the sound is more open on baffle if the element is right kind.

  • @transdrole The SPH-390TC are indeed low Q drivers. I'd certainly be intending to use compensation/EQ with them, being active already it wouldn't be a big stretch. I have seen great results with these drivers in W-frames. For an alternative that won't require EQ, the Eminence Alpha 15A is popular.

  • this iss very nice.respect

  • I browsed Monacor but could only find low-Q drivers.

  • Yep.

  • such a pleasant sound!

  • Excellent vid, though It'd be good to hear it from a bit further back too. Really clean, tight sound! I've experimented with dipoles (W-Profile) and was very impressed! Enough so that I'll be building a pair of them for my system (when I have space!) incorporating Monacor SPH-390TC most likely, 4 15" drivers total!

  • wow, that sounds incredible, but wouldn't a box provide better SPL at the "expense" of sound quality?
