This shows that a cooling flush may be required at the "top end" of the Silvia's heating cycle. More info at the blog entry: http://coffeemachineman.wordpress.com/2008/09/03/rancilio-silvia-pid-temperat...

  • looks like you ground the coffee too finely

  • @MariusWM It was a tight extraction, but I think it tasted OK.

  • 110 deg c is the temperature at the top of the boiler. The temp at the group head will be less than this. You also have to factor in that the temperature will drop during the shot.

  • you still happy with this mahcine, I'm thinking of getting one. where those cappuccinos' you made ? i like the glasses.

  • @Johanvideo525 It's a great machine. They're latte's in Duralex Picardie glasses.

  • hi, why not start steaming after the light goes out?

  • @rockybilbao The light shows you when the element is on. Light on = element on. If you wait until the element goes off, steam pressure will gradually drop as you steam until the element kicks in again. If you start steaming before the light goes out the element will stay on while you steam giving you max pressure = faster steaming.

  • Hi Charlie, thanks for the video. I'm curious, it appears the temperature keeps rising after thermostat light goes off, if you didn't flush, how long would it take to fall to your desired 110C?

  • @charliem169 do the glasses retain heat well ?
