Other wise people on internet talk a lot about mma, but mma is not really good in self defense in my opinion and have a lot of weakness and "suicide" technics in street context. I respect every martial arts, what is good depends only what is you research, a policeman will lost his time to learn how to defend an anckle lock; some people need self defense, other want fun and sport, other want to have the impression to be "the best". Every one find his style about his own needs.

Peoples who said that wing tsun is not effective are crazy. I sparred many times against high level guys and it is effective. Gutierrez changed a little bit the steps and like to work more outside may be because he is tall and strong but the connected body work in the same way than in classical wing tsun.
For those who say that violence is unuseful it depends what you want, but if you want to be not affraid to be punched you need to be familiar with violence and so get punch is a necessar step.

violent master violent guys violence violence volence. look at kyokushin. effective not violent. look at okinawan goju. effective not violent. what kind of personalities are built with such a system ? plus technically apart from vg these guys have no structure whatsoever. this is not a martial art, this is jailhouse brawl.
