  • My poli-sci prof at CMU asked the class which students of a class of 30 planned to stay in Michigan after graduation. Only three said they would. Two who planned to be state cops and one a teacher. It seems young educated people are Michigan's greatest export these days.

  • @battlebauble My criminal justice professor asked my class the same thing.

  • As a native of Lint, I hate to see it fall but am glad I got out while I could.

Demcad , does the state still control Flint? I know a few years ago (2003 ish) the city faced banckrupcy and the state threatened to take over. I also understand that the Mayor of flint at the time was mostly to blame for the demise of the city. Was very happy to be out when they where named the 3rd worst city for crime to live in. Good luck to you and watch your back! Carry that GLOCK close!

  • @1kcender4691 No, not any more.

  • Thanks, I enjoyed this series

  • @glenisah At least someone did. It took a lot of work. Thank you.

  • @ac18dc Your looking at it from your perspective, but what I am talking about is from a fully external view. The costs of operation vs real income. All mass transport are subsidized by gov, which means its cost is hidden and put on many who may not use it. Whenever the GOV wants to persuade people to do a certain thing (public transportation) they simply make all other options cost prohibitive, and legally prohibitive to the individual. You've been manipulated into your opinion.

  • @d3adp001 I agree that really large cities aren't the way to go, but what DEMCAD says about the mass (public) transportation is correct. It's way more sustainable, but, as Demcad says, an area needs to have a certain population density to make it work (which doesn't mean that it needs to be a megacity). I'm from Switzerland, our public transportation works great and it's not just an alternative to cars, but it's the transportation to pursue.

  • Interesting movies! I'm from Switzerland and at my university we just talked about the deindustrialization in the Detroit area. Thanks for not just showing some bad areas, but talk about some reasons of the decline and also about the possible more positive future! I'm always a bit wondering why the old, ruined buildings aren't torn down by the city to make the city appearing a bit less of a ghost town. Living in such an area makes people depressive and it's likely to turn into a downward spiral!

  • Continued from below: Its strange for me to see your empty city, the infrastructure looks so much better than what we have here, sad to see its not being used. I have been watching your prepping vids tonight, the UK as an island only has something like 7 days food supply before the shelves in the shops are empty, have been prepping myself for many months, seems that if the SHTF here things will go bad very quickly, sadly we cannot own firearms. Anyways, thanks for the vids, best of luck :)

  • Quite an eye opening video. I live in London, UK. MY commute to work is a nightmare daily, I have to take the bus, then a train then an underground train (the 'tube' we call it here). The population here is around 8 million, my train 8 times out of 10 is running late, when it arrives its often so packed with people you cannot get on, then the tube, usually have to wait for the 3rd train before you can squeeze on. Avoiding jihadist bombers also worries me daily, I just missed the 7/7 attacks :(

  • Very informative video. Job well done!

  • Enjoyed watching the series as well.

There are places elsewhere in the USA that are flat on their back, but I've been traveling quite a bit on the east coast and southeast recently, and you won't find many Flints, Youngstowns, Decaturs, etc there.

  • Well done Raynard 88666, somebody tries to draw attention to a key issue and you write nothing, but trash. Good videos anyway Demcad, well put together.

  • where ever you have multitudes of NIGGERS, you will have filthy ghetto crime life. move the niggers out solve the cities problems. most niggers are not like the ugly but educated one in this car. they are like the nigger who killed the pizza guy for meager change. wake up whites and blacks, we cant get along. segregate or die!

  • I live in Oscoda, Michigan. It's good to see someone taking an interest in writing about the decline of our industrial base. Thanks, Demcad. My husband and I dream about moving to Alaska to get off the "grid" some day. Maybe we will meet up with you. It would truely be a pleasure. You are an inspiration. Thanks.
