GO FLYERS GO PHILADELPHIA GO AMERICA
EVERYTIME ME AND MY FATHER LISTEN TO THIS WE CRY!!!!

God bless Kate, the Zink, Gene Hart, the Broad Street Bullies, the 76ers, and everyone else who made the Spectrum such a very special place! I remember having to queue-up a reel-to-reel with the 1930's rendition by 11:30 AM so the announcer at WCOJ 1420-AM could play it promptly at 11:57 AM. How great America was, and where we are now, what a shame!

I'm a Flyers fan too young to witness this at the time but I think she should be with the Flyers always. Her performance still gives me chills. Well done, Kate.

I remember going to the games all the time in the 70's & 80's. We always had a great time at the spectrum & Flyers games. Kate Smith is an American treasure. Her singing this song still gives me chills today. Philadelphia will NEVER forget Ms. Kate Smith! This kids today don't know what they are missing growing up now instead of back then.

Kate Smith looked pretty good in this video, considering she was 70 years old. She would die ten years old.

@pompom11 It was the year of our Bicentennial and I remembered it.
-
@pompom11 Amen brother!!!!!! You're exactly right. The crowd was actually singing along, wow pride in our country, at least the country I remember, not this social state we have under the dirtbag on Pa. Ave we have now.
-
now that's fuckin' Americana as I like it, good 'old 1976 when the country was still hard working.
.
with pride and honesty.
.
and everyone had each others backs.
.
now the country are suing each other and ignorance and back-stabbing is rampit

I'm a Ranger fan and I was at the Winter Classic. I really love her singing this. I think the Yankees use her version too.
-
The reason we lost the Winter Classic and the game against Chicago is because they had someone else in person singing alone with her. It's like having the Mona Lisa then letting your kid painting a picture on it covering half of her face.
@justjack78 no, this woman is philadelphia!

My Dad's Mother (My Grandmother) who would be over a 100 years old now, LOVED....Kate Smith. I grew up to really appreciate decent and traditional music and salutes to our country.
