Until near the end of her life, when her diabetes really knocked her for a loop, Kate indeed stayed young in heart and in energy, with her well-known enthusiasm alive and well. The voice stayed with her almost to the end, too. The amazing facet of her later years was her keeping up with the times. She sang rock, she appeared on all the top T.V. variety shows, she did concerts, she toured, always with new song selections and fresh ideas. Whatta champion!

Oh, good Lord! That's certainly not the America I remember from the 1970's. Vice President Agnew and then President Nixon both resigned in disgrace, Saigon quickly fell to the North Vietnamese after we finally pulled our forces out of Vietnam, the price of gasoline doubled, inflation was double-digits, the SLA kidnapped Patty Hearst and then ran amock across California until consumed in an L.A. fireball of their own making ... geez, were you even alive in the mid-'70s?
