THE ELEPHANT PARK PROJECT is an alliance between ELEPHANT CAMP XIENG LOM and TIGER TRAIL OUTDOOR ADVENTURES, the oldest kayak, bike and trek tour provider in Luang Prabang, Laos. When you join us on any of our amazing journeys into the nearby countryside, YOU are helping to save the Asian Elephant in Laos. Booking an expedition with us helps give these incredible animals a second chance, a PERMANENT home after a life in the logging industry.
I'm sorry journeyman47, but it is a sanctuary. These guys help old mistreated Elephants, and if you've ever been there you'd know that they genuinely love the animals. The elephants are playful and clearly happy, and "work" for a very limited amount of time every day. To call it work is a misnomer anyway, the playfulness, and lack of force from the mahoots indicates they are not doing it against their will. A lot of the day is spent feed and bathing them. Not exactly a bad life eh?

Where in Thailand do elephants get the best care?

Sorry Brian, but I ain't buyin' it. I don't believe that the only way to "save the elephants" is to ride on their backs. What about the Elephant Nature Park near Chiang Mai, Thailand? They are a sanctuary that cares for disabled elephants and DON'T require them to work at all.. just be happy and free. Tourists have a great time feeding and bathing them... and that's all! No aching backs, no open sores from the heavy benches. Try a real sanctuary, people, and skip the riding. Thanks.
