Okay well I made this video to tell all people that standardbreds are no different to other horses... they can win ribbons, they can jump trot and canter!! so why dont people like them?? I'll be the first to admit that i wasnt a 'standie' kinda person a while ago but now im a commited standardbred owner and figured i should show everyone that they're real horses too!! anyways the horses in this video are -Clive a 15.1 hh blacky/brown standardbred expacer. -Annie a 16.2 bay standardbred and we think she was an expacer( as sometimes she paces before she trots) and theres Rocky(the horse that does the trotting and cantering) he is about 15.2 bay and was an expacer... so i hope you enjoy this video sorry about it being mostly pictures... also the other pictures were ones i got from google images and standie sites!! enjoy

  • why do so many people hate stbs!? i wanted to buy a stb but everyone i know says not to and my mum wont even let me! they all say they are ugly hard to train horrible to get to canter cant jump and all the rest they say i wont get anywhere on a stb but i don't see what ever they are seeing to make them say that! it's just not fair!

  • @AmethistGirl1 You get ugly horses in all breeds, and they aren't hard to train many are actually very willing to learn most people just don't have the ability or patience to re-train. I went to a Gymkhana with my two stbs, and won hack over 15hh, on Barney if I covered his brand and no one would know he was a stb and with Annie we placed 2nd in the 60cm and 70cm show jumping in a class of 4-6, and the girl who beat us, (youtube name: bestinthesadle) her horse is an awesome tb who clears 1.3m

  • love this vid!! the standerbred that i ride can do every thing! At first I was not that strong(me not the horse) so when we where troting i almost fell of!! But now its really easy!:)

  • @wolf14985 Thankyou :) Annies trot is extremely smooth and fantastic for bareback :) I have another standie who is smaller and he seems to have a bigger trot :S which at the moment is a bit hard for me to sit too, but is really great and ground covering.

  • our standardbred has come so far since we first met her back in 2006, she was trained only to drive and knew one pace. trot.

after a while my sister became friends with our shadow, and now, four years later, this mare is a proud mother of an amazing filly, can jump, canter, gallop, do spanish walk and can even rear! shadow has come a long way since then and still has time to learn.

  • @LittleBayPony wow Well done :) I love hearing other peoples successful standie stories :D Other people don't realise how great they are because they may take a bit longer to train sometimes but its definately worth it ;)

  • amazing horses got one myself joining you on FB

  • I love Standardbreds. I hate how early they are raced, and basically ruined because of all the damage caused to their ligaments. However my opinion changed when I went to a sulky racing stable in Canada, they started their horses later, and the breed was just lovely. I fell in love with this huge black stalltion and this time 13.2hh pony XD They are a great breed.

  • @MissLoveAndLight std = stdb**

  • My new gorgeous boy is a standardbred.. He has never raced before.. He is ALL leg and ALL head hehehe.. Yeah he may not have the super sexy looks our anglo arab has but he has a cool, calm personality and looks can't make up for that.. I would actually opt for a std over another horse breed any day.. They are just easy going horses..

  • im getting a horse in a few weeks, i was either going to get a tb or a standie, and you know what. ive made up my mind. IM GETTING A STANDARDBRED!

  • @NohoaLover i managed to con my mum and everyone into letting up on stb's i have bought one! i got her in November 28th i think it was she is a beauty and as sharp as a fox she learnt how to bow in 2 days! my mum still doesn't like them but doesn't mind ruby (the horse i bought) i hav vids of her on my account and she is great to learn on! go the STB's!

  • @AmethistGirl1 I just brought a standardbred :) he is amazing and is a beautiful horse!!! he LOVES to jump! he is very smart! for the 6 weeks i have had him, he has learnt so much!! with only ME that is riding him! i dont get what people hate about standardbreds! they are beautiful and smart!! My standardbred didnt know how to gallop until 2 weeks ago.... i didnt teach him, the horses in his paddock did!

  • My standardbred is an ex racer. He would have been sent to the slaughter home if I hadn't bought him. It's pretty sad because he is so young and wouldn't have had a chance to live the rest of his life as a normal horse.

  • I adore my standardbred - we have been together for 6 years and he is capable of everything I would ask for. Anything he doesn't do is not worth doing - he is soft, responsive and totally willing. Never mind he's not into dressage - neither am I?

We love to cover distance and to be out on the range - CTR is pretty cool too!

  • One of the nicest horses you will ever keep. Own standardbred horses myself and wouldn't keep anything else now.
