American Airpower Museum Flying Activities
Republic Airport
Farmingdale, New York
Monday May 24, 2009

IN THIS VIDEO, you'll see various movements from near the American Airpower Museum related to the small event the museum was hosting on Memorial Day. The video of the B-17 starting up was actually shot from the wing of Glamorous Gal, a P-51 Mustang. I want to thank Chris Baranaskas for letting me shoot from the aircraft! You'll also see Thunderbird 14, a C-17 from McGuire AFB, depart from Runway 1 and see one of the most spectacular departures I've ever seen, and the video makes it even more dramatic. The commentator you hear in the background is Larry Starr, the curator of the American Airpower Museum. I would like to thank Larry and Scott Clyman for their help in assisting me to get the views you see in this video.

Like what you've seen? If you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take the time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .

  • Really nice video. I love in in HQ! A+! I would've like to see the B-17 in flight but I wasn't the man behind the camera. Awesome job and hope to see more of your stuff.

  • The B-17 never got a chance to fly at that time... I forget why.

  • awesome duel control mustang

  • A great museum on Long Island. A real treasure.

  • I love airshows :D

  • I don't remember a C-17, and I took a heli there...with CAP =P

  • Because the last T-bird left and they had to take the arresting gear off the runway, and the C-17 was on the other runway so they had to close it down for a little bit.

  • Great to see apart of the American History of WWII still in the air.. My dad was rear machine gun operator on the B-17. I wish he was able to see this now..

  • Simply Brillant, what camcorder do you use??

  • Yeah, really great video, again....love the mustang
