http://www.v8tvshow.com - Part of our 1970 Pontiac Trans Am's dual personality is drag strip performance, and Splitter delivers on the track. Here Brett Evans pilots the car to a 9.28 / 147 mph pass in a recent street car drag event.

  • Jeez!! 9.28 and he slept on the light for nearly half a second and lost traction a bit! If it hooked and the reaction was better...damn! I'm ordering one of those Butler strokers for my next GTO.

  • I owed a 70 TA and had more fun with the torque the 455ho put out. Hard not to love the TA

  • @moparnutjim No kiddin and he is talking about a Butler engine and GTOs lol I used to think the same thing though.

  • @therealhitman Reaction time doesn't effect E.T. He could have sat there for 30 seconds and his time would have been the same.

  • Built correctly, a Pontiac will run with anything. Rodney Butler's 63' Tempest recently ran 6.28 at 228. Proud to be a Pontiac fan!

  • woa i bet that got a great 60 ft time

  • Just watched the front suspension part of the build on your website, and wow. I'm kinda hooked here. I might have to build my own, slightly tamed down version. Utilizing some of the same goodies you guys selected. Really impressive front end components, yet simple to upgrade to.

  • OK, just pulled up Project Splitter in another window, I'm going to heavily absorb everything on the build, as it sounds like my kinda combo on the surface. Thanks for the pointer to this cars buildup. I was just going to ask, where do I find out more too.

    Awesome car!

  • @albert6669 I agree. I used to be a mopar nut/addict to, back in the day. But, I also owned at one point a 70 TA Ram Air III 4spd car, and I've missed that car every since. She had bad rust issues, but I still should have kept it. I'm now on the hunt for another vintage musclecar, and had automatically went into looking at mopars by habit, but now, I'm thinking TA again, and perhaps building something similar to this, but only perhaps a wheels up launch 10.50 car, and a 4spd. Nice car here!!!!

  • The time does not start until the car breaks the light beam.
