Amazing duo mashes Dick Dale with Rimsky Korsakov
The Richter Uzur Duo: Brad Richter, guitar and Viktor Uzur, cello.
About the performance (liner note excerpted from their CD, String Theory):
Misirlou/Bumblebee (Mash-up I), Richter/Uzur
This was the first of what the duo now calls Mash-ups - pieces in which they take themes or large sections of rock songs and classical pieces, combine them with original music, and end up with something quite new. Here the music stays closer to its original form than in later mash-ups. Misirlou is a Greek folk song. It was first performed by the Michalis Patrino rebetiko band in Athens, Greece in 1927. As with almost all early rebetika songs (a style that originated with the Greek refugees from Turkey), the song's actual composer has never been identified. Misirlou was made more famous by Dick Dale and the Del-tones in their surferesque cover of the tune from 1962 (which subsequently appeared in Quentin Tarintinos Pulp Fiction a favorite film of the duos and one of several that inspired music for this recording). Flight of the Bumblebee is an orchestral interlude written by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov for his opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan, composed in 18991900.
How cool!

Brad was my guitar teacher! :D
He came to my high school and did a classical guitar workshop. I learned so much in the short time he taught. He one of the most amazing guitarist. He gave me the courage to perform using different methods and techniques in front of a large audiance (my entire school). And theses guys are amazing in concert. Viktor is really really smart too. He spoke to me about music theory and i felt extremely stupid listening to him lol.

This is great! I'm a cellist and I just started with a guitarist recently doing stuff like this and I thought I'd look up videos of that combo and found you guys. You are a great duo!
