We lost for many reasons - mainly because we were rubbish relative to Southampton(couldnt take our early chances / fell apart again after going behind / etc etc)
Part of the reason why we are rubbish is because we generally don't play the full game - ie simulation and theatrics, and dont put enough pressure on the referee to make poor decisions in key areas. It is currently all part of the game - including being able to actually play the game
Just listening to Adkins' comments on the match, you can tell he's referring to the difference between the two teams. 'We gave a very DISCIPLINED defensive performance that enabled us to go and control the game. OUR principle is to PASS the football and we did that very well...I thought WE WERE IN CONTROL of the game anyway so I don't think that [the red card] would have affected the outcome.'
Simulation, theatrics and poor refereeing is all part of the game and can't be given as a reason for constant failure. Can't score or defend when the midfield is absent and the players are content to just lump it up the pitch. Maybe Cotterill really is a league one manager.
@emafeht Connolly deliberately put his jaw in the way of Chambers swinging elbow the cheating bastard... p.s. the ref already had a red card in his hand before all the Saints players ran to the incident.
Thought Forest had moments of real threat yesterday, Harewood and Tudgay look a decent pairing, Cunningham looks quality. NFFC midfield couldn't cope with Cork and Spiderman, Connolly's running of the ball. DoPrado was poor yesterday. Lee Camp was good, 3rd goal aside.
Was there intent? No, there wasn't and it was a fucking disgraceful way for the Southampton players to react. Goalkeeper running all the way from his goal just to try and start a fight. It was a red purely because the Southampton players blew it out of proportion.
Cotterill starts every interview after a defeat by claiming he has no idea how his team have lost. Must be so comforting for Forest fans to hear their manager saying he has no idea how they lost. When Saints lose, Adkins always pin points the areas needed for improvement and admits defeat. Cotterill was once a filthy skate and always will be a filthy skate. Awful awful manager.
You can tell Steve Cotterill is in charge, suddenly it's everyone but his team's fault when they lose games. The fans have started believing it too. Sad.
