If you are speaking about digital processing of signal, then we will be again like in modern recordings. What then doing an analog magnetic tape recording for?
Exactly an analog recording is so because there isn't any digital signal processing from microphone to speaker.
Modern mastering is the worst thing that one could be to the sound because most of commercial disks are heavily compressed and even clipped to get a very artificial sound.
@ LaylaLaneMusic
Could you post a video in which could be seen the Ampex recorder, and even all the recording equipment?
Thanks in advance.

nice!!!! real nice...sounds great..and just think, this can sound WAY better, with just a few tricks in the recording, and if it were mastered.
