Joe Zawinul - keyboards, Jaco Pastorius - bass, Wayne Shorter - saxophone, Peter Erskine - drums, Bobby Thomas Jr. - percussion. This version of Madagascar is probably the most intense and energetic you're ever going to hear( especially part 2), and the combination with great sound quality makes this a "must-listen" for any Weather Report-fans. This concert was performed at the Hammersmith Odeon in London, on November the 14th in 1980. Due to youtube's time-limit I had to divide the track into two parts.

  • To everyone: If the performance in this video seems abruptly cut off, it is because youtube still operated with a ten min. time limit for uploads when I posted this about ten months ago. Since this track exceeds that time limit I had to split it up in two separate vids. So if you enjoyed this video, be sure to check out part 2 which among other highlights contains a wild solo from Jaco. You can find it in my channel or simply by looking at the list of related vids on the right side of this page.

  • There was also a percussionist called Robert Thomas Jr.!!! Brilliant!!!

It seems that I forgot to include his name in the info-section. Thanks for reminding me.

  • Thank you, so much for posting this. Do you have the complete recording of the show??

I'm dating myself here, but I attended this show as a teenager -- family lived in London. The energy and brilliance displayed that evening resonate with me today. It was a magical evening and experience that I'm ever grateful for...

    Many thanks for the posting.
