Yes, this Stirling liquid piston engine is as simple as it looks. It is water in a U shaped tube which has one end open and the other end connected to a test tube that is 2/3 full of coarse steel wool.

A glass low friction syringe and plunger also work well as a substitute for the liquid piston.

  • This is a very important engine as it can use hydrogen which has a lot better conductivity than air - instead of water you put in a magnetic fluid and then wind a coil around the tube and you will make electricity - use a fresnel lens to heat the tube and you will have a solar powered unit that will charge your batteries.

This is how you make the magnetic fluid

  • I barely succeeded, the water only moved 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch for a minute or two. I tried to improve the movement and ended up stopping it. It did self start. I am using basic plumbing supplies, as that is all I have available. I used a 1& 1/8" x 6" long pipe necked down to a 3/4" fitting, then further constricted the opening to about 1/8". I ran a 1/8" tube 12" long into a 1/2" tube 12" long. It worked with a small candle. I have been trying to repeat the process with no success.

  • i have finally succeed to replicate this liquid piston, and my second resonant fluidyne 2 have a very big swing !! thank you nylesteiner for showing us that !

  • if it is self starting, then the future is there, to say it simple i think that everything is important to tuned the resonant frequency, so we have to do exactly what we see and nothing else event a little detail we must succeed too, if someone succed to do that ever again i absolutely want to see that

  • How many others succeed to do that, and you mrs Nyle Steiner have you try it again with some modification ? i look the way to do that with a low difference temperature, and i will try again

  • Still great, i was not able to succeed to do that, i will be trying again and again, there is a smaller tube between the test tube and the U tube, this little tube may act as a sort of modulator ? and i want to know if it is working for a long time, congratulation i go right away to the website to get some tips

  • is it self starting?

  • hey falle al darte una calificacion, se merece un 5

  • cool

  • Great indeed ! we need now to lower the fire and get a low temperature engine with a lower frequency, with something bigger than a little tube, why not take a bottle of 1500 cm3 like me ! so no more piston for my next try ! so simple that anyone will succeed to do that and get free energy from a low temperature diffrence, example from the underground temperature 5 celsius and the air outside (25 or -15 celsius in winter), i look a way to do that !
