I made a compass out of 7 Ball Magnets and found it quite interesting at the speed that it span.

Much faster than the rotor was spinning!

I wonder if you could put an air coil beneath it to capture the Current?

You would need to slow the rotor down to the frequency of the fastest spin in the secondary magnets.......

I guess there's an analogy of gearing here - bigger "cog" driving smaller = higher speed, lower torque.

i've done the same thing before, except using a magnet attached to a motors rotor
