Chinese 2-8-2 (the last JS-class built in 1988) in service on the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad running over former interurban trackage between Boone and Fraser, Iowa. Footage was filmed during the summer of 1998 - and it was HOT. One other note - watch out for those roadside ditches in Iowa. They may be covered with hay, but they're still there!

    Sorry, the steam engine does NOT run in the winter...(I lived about one block west of the crossing at 6:15.) If you ever get over there, there is a very nice spring in the hill behind the crossing at 7:00....

  • @conrailportroad The steamer runs the all the time.  Unless maintenance is being done on it.
