Oct. 13, 2009: Journalism Director's Forum: Dana Chinn, USC Annenberg
Join Knight Digital Media Center Director Vikki Porter, for a discussion on Web analytics: Finding the meaning in the metrics. On the web, its all about knowing what your audiences are doing. With just a few metrics, journalists can understand whats engaging people, and whats not. Journalism professor Dana Chinn will discuss the differences between web and traditional media audience behavior and how advertising-based business models have changed. Drawing from her recent presentations for the Knight Digital Media Center and the Online News Association, Chinn will explain how to use the basic metrics for websites (unique visitors, visits, page views) and social media such as Twitter (followers, content).
