@HowToJumpHigher1 Not really, I watched closely and not one time did it actually go past his toes. And another thing, it's not bad for your knees to let your knee go past your toes. Using weights while doing it would be bad, but using full extension and full joint movement to do the exercise actually strengthens your knees.
I've had significantly less knee problems and greatly increased strength since I started doing all my bodyweight squat type exercises with my knee going past my toes.

The Hot-Colds are awesome, but I had to tell many of my clients and participants to keep their toes pointed straight and not go out as far because of the pressure it put on their knees, but I also work at a corporate gym where the average member is 40-50

how boaring are you and you your gym :P

@HowToJumpHigher1 As long as the heels remain flat and you decelerate on the landing there should be much trama to the knees.

aha.. now if you don't mind please tell me PRECISELY why it is bad to the joints?
Ohh you can't because you're just repeating the stuff some random guy @ your gym / your 60 year old untrained female doctor / your mom told you...
Unless you know WHAT TEH FUKC! you're talking about just shut the fuck up

will this help increase my vertical leap?
These are great fundamental exercises. One thing I noticed, though, is that your his knees were out over his toes on the drop lunges. This is bad on the joints--the knees should be directly above the toes.
