And Bonzo fucking ODed... sure the paper read "alcohol poisoning" but you know that's bullshit... they just didn't want all the teenie boppers to read "heroine and cocaine mixed with jim beam"
How you gonna call them a bunch of "fake artists" just because they happened to make art that was marketable.
@SHARKREEF2011 I agree with every thing you said but new wave is rock. More viable real rock but rock non the less. To a certain extant I'm on your side even though I do like "some" Led Zep. After all I am fifty two years old and whether corporate or not some of it does rock. I'm certainly sick of Stairway to Heaven. I don't label Rock I like I Just...."like it".
@MrTenitis bullshit, this is new wave.all those corporate rock people AND the rockers would never play this.they hated it.fuck them and their "stairway to heaven" shit 1000 times a day.when punk came .,and then NEW WAVE ,we said "see ya,journey" and hit the clubs and alternate record stores.we never loked back,to that STAGNANT radio scene.rock never did jim any favors in the 70s,they opposed him,so we all ignored them.and did our own thing
Wouldn't any man beg: "I want an angel whose eye's are raving, who takes what I give, and not what I'm saving."? Isn't that real love? Jim writes like Pete Townshend with his limbs caught in razor wire. Jim Carroll's words inspire the soul, tear at your senses, and rip apart your sensibilities, daring you to think...it...through. He's brilliant.
Jim Carroll is a genius. I first saw him in 1980 at the Whiskey in Hollywood. A great poet and tortured junkie; he made a powerful impression. He was a poet and writer first; he used the music to showcase his poetry ... it's all there in the lyrics. I know the lyrics to every song (by heart). His death came as a shock. his lifestyle took it's toll. Read 'Basketball Diaries', even if you've already seen the movie ... it's Jim writing about Jim.
Sadly, Jim will become elite in his passing like A Christmas story or It's a Wonderful Life. He is as important as Lennon and McCartney and vastly as prophetic. I am a writer and live as boring a lifestyle as can be imagined...but, listen to Jim's words and his passion and how cool is it that they added great music to it. Jim Carroll's words are like surgical assaults on our senses. His thoughts are like a needle to a vain, precise and shocking.
I mean maybe you don't agree... but those are people who died, died.

If you look at your history the media hated Zeppelin.
They didn't start liking em until they figured out they could sell their records 20x over on different formats.
