You'll never leave Harlan alive.

My grandfather mined coal for decades in McRoberts KY where my Daddy was born. I'm sick of these right wing bastards sayin' they're fighting for America when they never broke a sweat a day of their lives. Roosevelt did more for the working class in this country than any president ever did. God Bless the working class of this country.

I am from Corbin which is pretty close to Harlan and it a beautiful place. I live in Louisville now because I couldn't make it bad there (no jobs) but I love to ride back there in the summer.

I am from Oregon and Washington and have lived in eastern Tennessee and western Kentucky. I found the people to be quite hospitable and friendly. It is unfortunate that many of such good people live in poverty.

I grew up in this and left and took the pain with me! I make a good living now knowing I am stronger.. for growing up with nothing but knowledge and what my family could teach me about living off the land . I thank God everyday I know what I know because I will never be without!

@BluesHarp60 I BEEN ON the firing line in the army, a proud vet, and shoveled ribs to feed my family, but that s just how it is, you get tough or die,we don`t need the gov! we can tend to our own,it`s them that put us in this situation along with greed..

@archerdog1 The video isn't about West Virginia. It's about eastern Kentucky and north-eastern Tennessee. Maybe you should read the description in detail before you leave a comment next time.

I'm in Oak Ridge TN now. Every time I go up that t\way I get irritated. No one should have to live like these poor hill-billy children.

This sort of thing is not limited to the mid southern states mountains. The southern tier of New York is just like this. There are no jobs. Nothing to do but milk cows or drive a long way from home for work. The state has taxed the small family farms out of existance and now the bigger corporate farms (2000+ cows) only want to hire illegal mexicans because they work for next to nothing and can't complain. Go to Allegany county NY and you'd think you were in Harlan or Rabun Ga. Gov't doesn't care

Youre right, they dont care. The only color they care about is green as in money. and the only number they care about is more.
