The vampire squid (Vampyroteuthis infernalis) lives in temperate and tropical ocean waters around the world, often lurking in the "oxygen minimum zone," hundreds of meters below the surface. A "living fossil," this animal has remained relatively unchanged for hundreds of millions of years. This animal was filmed by researchers at MBARI in the deep waters of Monterey Canyon, and is about 30 centimeters (12 inches) long.

  • @KYxWILDCATSxGBB you where on the right track until you hit the God created them , Open your eyes read and try to understand science and give credit to the true creator of all living organism . Earth and the recipe of all the elements which exist with the combination of the laws that governs our world such as gravity and so on ....

  • Damn, those eyes are honestly hypnotising. @_@

  • Things really do amaze me. How we can scan space and build giant space shuttles, yet we can't search the whole ocean. Proof is with the fish. Look at all the fish we thought were extinct. They're suddenly appearing around the world. It's amazing at what God creates.

  • @chibistar12 They aren't really vampires. The name was given to them because their tentacled bodies could look like a flowing cape. The thorn-like tips only add to the "strangeness" of this animal.

  • Looks like a claymation :D giggidy

  • Scary o.o

  • Dang, I wanna see some blood sucking action! =(

  • looks more like a spaceship Oo

  • @ShadowAssassin887 I would guess the batwing/cloak-like membrane connecting its tentacles is the source of the "vampire" association.

  • Squidward!
