Still testing my EOS 7D video. Lens used: Canon EF 100-400 mm 1:4.5-5.6L IS USM. Video straight from camera.

  • This video is no help, you mention nothing of the distance you were from your subject. and to answer the above question ... YES, you can take "photos" with this lens.

    Only with the Aperture turned on :D

  • Before start of the video, the mallard duck was prefocussed. and till the end the camera stays in same focus.

    By no means this video explains the inability of 7D to focus fast in video mode OR 7Ds superb autofocus speed when doing photo stills.
