When your in the air, you can turn the direction you are moving by using the strafe buttons (Surfing). In this case, he strafed right to turn back towards the bridge. If you want to see this effect except 100x bigger, just join any surf server and spec them.

he either moved his mouse in a circle or he moved the joystick in a circle unsure of which on he has it for
