Another version of "Open the Door Richard" by the Three Flames. A very popular late 1940's vocal group. They hosted their own TV show on NBC in 1949. One of only two #1 versions of "Open the Door Richard" it charted Feb. 1947.
Count Basie was the first to reach #1 with this song.

  • I liked the little animation of the label swinging open to show a group photo of The Three Flames.

  • @1stPCFerret Thanks! I add things like that sometimes. Also see Three Flames Salt Peanuts for more animation.

  • The Three Flames were Averill Ule Pollard (my dad) on bass, Tiger Haynes on Guitar and Loumel Morgan on piano. They had their own TV program, "The Three Flames Show" on NBC for thiry-nine weeks. When the show aired they had been performing at the famed Bon Soir night club in New York's Greenwich Village (8th Street) for five consecutive years. One evening Loumel suffered a heart attack while performing and died in my father's arms. They helped young artist like Barbara Streisand find her voice.

  • @awesum585 Thank You!

  • Yosemite Sam: "Open the door! Open the door! (to the audience, quieter:) Notice I didn't say, 'Richard?' "

  • @VinylShellacLover Yes, I remember that scene!
