I got my straight razor in the mail today and decided to record my first time shaving with it. Having never shaved with a straight razor - i thought this might have some comedic value if i shred my face/neck up a lot.

  • Very clean and fast. It seems you bought a very forgiving blade, giving that you shaved with a barber's stance, and not using the "3 fingers on the blunt side", like most shavers usually do. What shaver is that?

  • @flurry that was a Parker 31R with a super shark blade... don't worry though, shortly after that video i learned the correct holding position -- and I moved over to the real thing - now i just lend that shavette out to people who want to give it a try since it uses disposable blades.

  • Do u like the Parker?

  • @NYmosVids I do like it, It's light but seems to be of a decent quality. I have since upgraded to a real straight razor, but highly recommended this parker to anybody who just wants to give it a shot.

  • HEY MAN HOW DID YOU LIKE THE PARKER RAZOR? IM ABOUT TO GET THE WHITE ONE...I HOPE THEY SHAVE GOOD...YOU HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH YOURS?

  • @tattooboy327 I love it and still use it almost daily. I've had no problems with it yet.

  • Dude. you're braver than I am! I tried my Parker for the first time yesterday, and lost my nerve after I sliced into my right cheek. Will definitely be giving it another try in a few days.

  • I just purchased the Parker SR1 with a bunch Shark single blades and a proper shaving soap. I will tell you about after I use it.

Maybe later I'll advance to true blade, like yourself, only after I master the sharpening of lesser blades (like the meat knife, for instance).

Don't cut yourself forcing a hand position you're not comfortable with!
