Bulletproof Vest Testing

Got this old vest for free from a LEO so I could use it as a backstop for safe backyard shooting. He asked If I could test it first to see if it still held up...sure!

Testing to see if a 8/yo Kevlar and Spectra built bullet-proof vest will fail.

After this was filmed, In an attempt to make the vest fail, I shot it from the front and rear at one single panel at the same spot.

40rds of .22lr, 10rds of 9mm, and 6rds of 45ACP. The last round of 45 ACP finally went through. Its important to note that the weave is designed for the bullet to impact only one side(front), the fact that no round penetrated when shot the wrong way is pretty amazing.

Safariland sold the Zero G series of vests in a number of color coded insert versions (each offering level IIa, II, or IIIa protection, they shared the same carrier, but had different make up of materials, thickness and of course price. The levels were Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Black (black being custom order blend), do you know which one this was, it seems you stopped the video while openings the insert outer lining (the part with the serial number, etc on it)?
