This is a nice mago made by Darryl Dikarrna Brown. It is Darryl's personal instrument which he made from termite-eaten Stringybark. Darryl plays for the White Cockatoo Performing Group, and when he is not on tour, 'pulls mago' for ceremony in local communities and outstations in Western Arnhem Land.
Darryl was apprentice to the late David Blanasi, his grandfather, who was a pioneer international act who brought the didgeridoo to many countries.
This mago is conical-shaped with thin walls and excellent resonance. It has a mouthpiece insert, caulked with 'sugarbag' beeswax - the dark-coloured beeswax from the Trigona native stingless bee.
