Bees out and about in the afternoon flying around and buzzing like crazy! The sound of this activity lured me from across the yard! The worker bees have to learn where their hive is. So when they are old enough to start to forage they fly out, and back to the hive... over and over! With a good queen this might mean 1000 bees a day are ready to learn how to find their home again, once they've begun to gather the nectar that they make into honey. It's so magical. Please love, and don't harm, honey bees.

  • Bees are docile. Two were crawling on my screen trying to get out. One of them crawled up on my finger. I'm not ellergic so I didn't care. But the bee didn't sting me. But it stayed with me till I got it outside. It circled my hand for a minute and flew away. The other one somehow made it's way out on it's own. It's the African bees that make me afraid.

  • Can you tell me if the bees are more aggressive during this behavior? I tried to get close to a hive that has never bothered me as you are doing and a couple tried to sting me.

  • Im a new beek in Florida with a small hive growing rapidly. I am gonna assume thats what I have going on this afternoon on a smaller scale.
