I am trying to get in shape as of the past week. Ever since I was 21 I drank a lot more than I should have, captain and coke ( I would put away a half gallon every two days by myself) I was also a smoker. Next month will mark my one year anniversary since I quit smoking cold turkey. In September will be my one year anniversary since I quite drinking.

I have been getting myself little presents and things with the money that I save from not smoking or drinking (things like R/C cars, electronic stuff, the exercise equipment pictured in the video)

I am very proud of myself quitting both these very bad habits/addictions. Unfortunately all that drinking and soda went straight to my gut. I'm about 5' 11" 275 lbs. I have a rum belly that makes me look like I am in my 6th month of pregnancy. I figured it is time to do something about that as well. I don't want to be this way and up until I was about 20 I was of an average weight and actually had a six pack and was in shape ( I rode my bike doing freestyle jumps and flatland and some bmx track jumps and stuff). Well that six pack was replaced with a half gallon of rum and coke.

I am starting off doing the Weider weight machine and weight bench for about and hour and a half every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I am only benching around 13 lbs right now. I know you are probably thinking what the hell I can lift that with my pinky. Trust me after over an hour on the weider machine with most of the exercises pertaining to my upper body, 13 lbs feels like 300lbs. Plus I am just starting out and haven't exercised since high school. I am 27 now going on 28 in July. I don't want to hurt myself by pushing myself to hard.

I am pushing myself on the Weider machine though pretty good and try to increase my reps/weights when I feel like an exercise is to easy for me. I started out doing 3 sets of 10 reps taking no longer than a 30 second break for water in between reps. I am increasing the reps/weight as I go along and feel like I can handle the increase. I am doing over 20 exercises on the Weider and spend a little over an hour alone on the Weider.

Tuesdays and Thursdays I speed walk/run on the treadmill for around 40-45 minutes (I keep increasing that time as well) and I work on the bike for 30 minutes (increasing the resistance every week) and I also box on the slam man for 10 minutes increasing my time each day.

My goal is to be able to fit into a size 38 jeans come next summer. I am not sure if that is too high of expectations or not. I am not sure have fast a person can drop weight. I know it would just fall off day by day though. I wear a size 45 right now (although it is baggy I could probably wear a 43)

I found out I was type 2 diabetic right after quitting smoking and drinking. The last day I drank and got wasted and projectile vomited for no reason. I later found out my blood sugar was probably in dangerous levels and I could have died. Since I am diabetic I take a pill once a day to control my blood sugar. I have to be careful though because to much streneous exercise and I can go into hypoglycemia which is to low of a blood sugar and I can go into a coma or even die. I have to eat a snack before I exercise (i know that doesn't sound right for someone trying to loose weight to have to eat a snack before exercising) but the snack actually helps keep my blood sugar levels up while I exercise.

Anyway I just wanted to show you guys what I am up to and I am very excited about this. I am devoted to this as much as I was to quitting drinking and smoking so I know sticking with this will be cake. I even kinda enjoy it in a strange way. Just got done the Weider weight training today on a Wednesday. I feel sore but I know this will all pay off so that makes me feel good.

Any body that's into weight lifting and cross training that has been doing it for awhile if you got any tips or tricks please let me know. I would love to hear some ideas from people that have been doing this for a long time and have experienced the results that this training will provide.

Thanks for watching

  • beer doesn't contain fat so the beer isn't making your belly fat

  • @juvonne1 I didn't drink beer I drank rum and coke. I would drink upwards of almost three bottles of coke a night at a party mixed with rum.

  • Yea everything except for the treadmill, slamman and bike were bought off craigslist locally.
