Lyrics:

Inside your soul there is a darker part that's growing bolder
It grows in strength as you get older
I'll prove that you are not the white knight that you claim to be
Then, you belong to me

I am the thing that you are running from, but I am faster
I am the proof that you are not so different from the Master

I've had enough of all your whims and idiosyncrasies
Your pathetically misguided maxims I shall discard
I'll see your downfall, it's the only way I can be free
I am the Valeyard

The death that follows in your wake will take a heavy toll
It leaves a darkness in your soul
It really doesn't matter whether you mean well or ill
You are corrupted still

And though I strive to take your place and your regenerations
You will live on in me as I rise up to higher stations

I've had enough of all your whims and idiosyncrasies
Your pathetically misguided maxims I shall discard
I'll see your downfall, it's the only way I can be free
I am the Valeyard

You speak as though there is a one-dimensional reality
But you can't stop the catharsis of spurious morality

I've had enough of all your whims and idiosyncrasies
Your pathetically misguided maxims I shall discard
I'll see your downfall, it's the only way I can be free
I am the Valeyard
You are the Valeyard
We are the Valeyard

  • what is the catharsis of spurious morality

  • Well, I'm not sure what it really means. I think it's kind of nonsensically melodramatic. But it's a line lifted directly out of the episode.

  • Awesome song! There definitely needs to be more classic Who trock.

  • Well done! My goodness, I wish I'd known about this when I was writing Time's Champion. I hope you had a chance to catch that; I think you might like all the Valeyard treachery involved. :)

  • Basically, it means "You cannot prevent the triumph of evil," only, in true Pip and Jane Baker fashion, with unnecessary two-dollar words thrown in.

  • Great stuff Tom. The Five Docs was also very good.

  • Great song. I have been thinking that there needs to be more classic Who trock.
