I don't know, what with old call me Dave Cameron at the front of the tories, he always did say he was the heir to Blair. But you are right, we can easily beat the Chinese efforts by doing what we Brits do best; Pomp and Circumstance. Military Marches, HM the Queen. That is what will create a truely dazzaling opening ceremony!

Agreed. Our bit at the 2008 closing ceremony was poor. Hopefully with the 2012 ceremonies it will be much much more traditional. Less of the "modern" crap. Maybe with a Tory government it will be better. Hopefully...

Hope the 2012 loympics keeps with the traditions seen here, although from the looks at the moment, aint gonna happen.

I will never forget those pigeons. I was just five and my grandfather took me to the opening and closing ceremonies. It was so simple but unforgettable. He said it was important that i went and I know realize why. I think the pigeons stole the show. They wheeled around the stadium and then flew off. Must have raided Trafalgar Square! Thousands of them. It was about all UK had after the war. The management lived in fear of a power cut which were common in 1948 and the flame would go out!
