Tom was called Buddy because this was Roseanne's revenge after ABC cancelled her Saturday Morning Cartoon series in 1991. Little Rosey was to have a second season. but executive meddling reared it's ugly head and Roseanne wouldnt bow to their requests, so the show was axed.
