Part 17 of 48
Locations:
Tomorrow Square
This is going to go by pretty slowly. If you want to skip to the next plot-relevant event, head to the end of Part 19 (when it comes up), called "Tanker Spanker." Towards the end, specifically. This will be when Mickey gets to board the rocket and meets Oswald there.
Of course, if you feel bugged skipping parts, feel free to keep watching. But as you can see on the list of locations there, Tomorrow Square is going to be a doozy to get through. The more obvious reason is because there are a number of things here to do, and as usual, I want to clean out the place. The less obvious reason is because the Beetleworx here patrolling the bottom floor regenerate, and I spent a lot of time pointlessly defeating them. I didn't think of it at first, but if you'll be playing through this, I recommend to gum their works with Paint. Paint does not harm them at all, but it does slow down their movements for as long as Mickey remains in the room.
Actually, the Tomorrow Square footage will bleed quite heavily into the next video too. I believe this is the only region in this game where I have more than 25 minutes of footage though. The Asian Boat Ride came close. But this is with me editing out randomly and futilely running around.
Tomorrow Square contains at least five attractions based on Disneyland's Tomorrowland. The first to get mention is the People Mover. Tomorrowland's equivalent has the same name and was the first quick means of transportation around Tomorrowland--though not as quick as what you'll see here. It indeed followed electrical rails. The People Mover has since been dismantled due to stricter Californian safety laws, though the People Movers continue to operate at Disneyworld.
Gus also mentions the Rocket Ride. This is based on the Astro Orbitor and its ancestor, the Rocket Jets. It is located at the border between Main Street, U.S.A. and Tomorrowland and is actually in the middle of the path with a line spiraling outward. Passengers board rockets attacked to the main stem, which then spin around moving up and down much like the Dumbo ride.
As Mickey enters, Space Mountain is also visible on the right. It's coated by glowing Tron lines, though the real Space Mountain ride's outer façade is pure white, just as depicted in the Great Big Tomorrow. This Space Mountain stays in the background though; Mickey never interacts with it (though the boss fight may take place in it; the location is never clear).
Behind where Mickey begins is a group of trams suspended beneath a cable. Gus calls them the Sky Trams, which is based on the Skyway. Like the People Movers, this was a mode of transportation around Tomorrowland, though it also led to Fantasyland. The trams were smaller than depicted here and certainly a lot less nerve-wracking due to a lack of a bottomless pit under the real thing. The Skyway has since been removed.
Lastly, there are remnants of the Observatron, which is a moving structure that replaced the Rocket Jets with seemingly no purpose. (You see, when the Rocket Jets was decommissioned, the Astro Orbitor was placed in a different spot. Where the Rocket Jets once stood, the Observatron is there now.) In the modern Tomorrowland, it occasionally opens up and stuff spins around in it, then closes back up. The ruins are located at the left end of the Sky Trams. Mickey won't get close to its ruins until the next video.
With explaining the references out of the way, the first order of business is to restore power to the People Movers. Here's where we have our first real application of the TV sketches: As Gremlin Apollo explains, you have to place one at each power station. The TVs will disappear, but they will permanently supply power. The one closest to the starting point, by the ramp up from the floor, will electrify the tracks, causing jolts to surge through about once every two seconds. Once the remaining two get power, they will reactivate the trams and open the gate simultaneously. If you miss a TV, fear not--the next Beetleworx you take out will drop another one.
Two other Gremlins are trapped here: Sparks, who shows you where Nova is, and Nova, who will remove those trams on the People Mover and allow you to cross safely.
This is not all that can be done here--more will be covered in the following video.
Thank you, this level was ridiculously hard for me. Stupid secret passages...how are people supposed to know they're there!

@Aleu Yeah, sometimes, it feels like this game was built to drive you crazy to make you buy the guide. Doesn't really work as well now that there is the Internet to help.

I feel bad for Brer Rabbit...He is EXTREMELY forgotten...and he wasn't in this game......

@BanjoYoshi1 Isn't he on the Splash Mountain ride?
Overhazard 4 months ago
@Overhazard Yeah except people just think of him as an animatronic animal...No one cares for him...If only "Song of the South" wasn't banned...
BanjoYoshi1 4 months ago
@BanjoYoshi1 People still remember him, nonetheless. And "Song of the South" being banned will ensure there are a lot of people who will never forget him, or any other character in the movie, due to infamy.
