@JPDunsdon is there no diff. locks on the Jeep CJ3a? those Go-Devil engines are indestructable:-D (as i have heard) i want a cj3 too!

nope, Go-Devil sidevalve. The loud knocking is the transmission... when I got it it was full of water, not moved in years, and the lower 1/2 of all the gears were severely corroded... can't stop an old Willys tho! ..well the transmission did blow up after a couple hundred miles, cracked the casing and knocked a 2" square hole in the side.... still made it home in 3rd gear low range tho!! ..no wonder we won the war... :)
