I like how the glosso used the riccia as a floating island to grow on.

Quite the wild jungle!

Cool tank. Funny how planted tanks make things so calm even though the pump is running in the background

What the plant on top? Baby tears?
Arteolike 1 year ago
@Arteolike It's riccia fluitans. It grows very quickly in a mat if you just let it float. There is some glossostigma elatoides woven into it which is what the larger leaves are.

How often do you trim your plants? Also would a circulation device help keep the algae from growing?
GrotesqueSteve 1 year ago
@GrotesqueSteve Well, I don't anymore since this tank was broken down (I moved). But when I had really good growth going I would trim once every 3-7 days.
Strong circulation helps, but regular and frequent water changes are more important to avoid unexpected algae surprises. You're trying to simulate a river or a huge body of water. Water never stays in the same place in nature like it does in your tank. :-)

omg i want a tank like this so bad!!!!! mine looks so amateurish

@TheAquariumKid Mine looked amateur when I first set it up too. Actually, this video makes it look a bit better than it actually is :-) Just keep practicing and trying new things and you'll find what works. Read some aquatic plant forums on the net too to get ideas. That's what I did.
