And the fact that the 1999-2004 Mustang Gt's have a 2V V8! Idk what size motor the T/A have but Pontiac has ALWAYS ran Big Block motors untill the mid 80's I do believe...so yes a stock Mustang Gt will fall to a Trans Am...but I have beat a few Trans Am's in my 2006 GT with a 3V V8...I like both and owned a '79 Firebird with a 400 but I love my GT!

@sixduces200322 nope your wrong the 00-04 body mustang gt has only maybe 230rwhp against the 99-02 t/a which makes 305rwhp stock and the 98-02 cmamro ss or z28 makes 295!! how do i knwo i had a 03 mustang gt got it dynoed exactly 237 on jet dyno and got it dyno tuned made 248 to the wheel!! true story!

@hondaisflatoutbest 5.0 was built to combat the new laws going in to effect 2012... Yes, there were still improvements to be made, but we are talking about a 4.6 here. the DOHC was dead near close to ls1 power levels. You have to remember there is only so much one can do trying to stay at a set pricing point. Seeing a 400hp 4.6 was not hard... that could be reached with bolt ons. The 5.0 doesn't even have a Full 100hp over the 4.6 DOHC... quit hyping it up.

I've owned a Trans Am and now I have a Mustang. Trans Am out handles Mustangs on cornering and ride. Love my Mustang but it corners like a brick compared to a T/A.

The new mustangs r fast. Its about time. Mustangs been gettin trashed since the lt1 days. The ls1 has been on top of gt's since they came out in camaros and trans ams in 1998. Ford guys, u can pat urselves on the back now.
If the new maros didnt weigh so much the new 5.0's would have a more even match.
