I haven't tried this because I like the lighter strings particularly on the upper range. I also tend to play with a capo just about all the time. I think I'll experiment with your suggestion - thanks :)

A very prompt response! Have you tried using a set of mixed strings to lighten the bass? "Liteguage"!! 6th and 5th, and heavier upper range strings.I use a capo on the 2nd fret and tune down a semi from concert pitch which reduces bass "boom". Easier on the fingers as well.

@NewtonBlog I'm honestly not sure. The guitar is tuned to DGDCGE so with the capo I'm a tone up from that when played open but I've never actually tried to work out what the key is or the chords are.

lovely version, good job. Some how brighter than JM's one. Feels very positive, like a song you might sing to someone at a wedding.
